MAKE ROOM FOR YOUR OWN MUSIC

Come for the main class, or arrive early for the optional Writer's Room. Both welcome curious players at different stages of their journey.

The Writer's Room

Bring a musical idea. Leave with somewhere to take it.

We listen to a student's work in progress and try ways to shape its story, feeling, and movement. A short phrase is plenty to start with.

  • •Explore repetition, contrast, melody, rhythm, and harmony.
  • •Hear how different choices change the same idea.
  • •Build your ear and compositional awareness together.
All levels welcome. We'll talk shop and keep the discussion moving. Featured compositions rotate; longer foundational questions are saved for follow-up.

Find Your Flow

Get comfortable making music in the moment.

Warm up together, play simple musical games, and explore one weekly theme through guided patterns and group jams.

  • •Practise continuity with a simple musical anchor.
  • •Explore expression without adding lots of complexity.
  • •Share weekly practice discoveries without a recital.
A complete experience on its own. Accessible starting points and optional challenges let you explore at your own pace.

Justin's classes are very welcoming for any level - whether you have some experience or none. The flow of the classes offers opportunity to explore and gain confidence in playing the handpan with no pressure at all. You'll definitely learn a lot of different techniques and ways to keep you moving on your personal journey with this beautiful instrument. He's also created an app to help with practicing and for reference. Really handy to take you step-by-step through the lessons. Justin himself is very encouraging. I'm absolutely amazed at how much knowledge and learning is offered each week. His lessons also inspire me to practice everyday -- the songs are so beautiful and happy!
